This past year was by far the best we've had so far at RGC. More shooters, a higher level of competition, a moving target set- up and more variety with the alternating rifle and pistol schedule.
Congratulations to Shane Quan for becoming our first overall Action rifle/Pistol Champion for 2009. He works hard at doing his best and it shows.
Jan. 9, 2010 Shotgun/Pistol Match
A cold, blustery winter day but the burn barrel helped fight off the chill as eleven shooters showed up to compete.
This match was a little different as John Hinshaw was the brains behind the first "two-gun" competition we've held at the present RGC outdoor range.
We had four events with the results as follows:
Long Range slugs--five shots in a reasonable time period with a slug-loaded shotgun a approx. 40-50 yds. John Hinshaw won this one with a score of 47 pts. out of a possible 50pts. Dick Williams & Jason Knox tied for 2nd @ 43pts. & Paul Reimer was 3rd with 42 pts.
The Mover--Shane Quan was top man on this event involving a moving silhouette with a score of 59pts. Jason Knox was 2nd with a 57 and Jason Corn was 3rd with a 51.
Handgun/ shotgun Combo--A real nerve-wracker with a moving target for the pistol and bowling pins for the shotgun. Alternating between the two in the time and round count allowed was an exciting task. Shane was 1st, Jason Corn 2nd & Dick 3rd.
Man/Man Pistol--Paul Reimer was our winner but "Machine Gun" Jesse Williams returned to our competitions to give him a run for his money. Shane took 3rd.
This was a really neat day at the range and special thanks goes to John Hinshaw for all his ingenuity in putting on such an exciting match and to Paula Corn for doing such a fine job of keeping score.
Top four shooters today were:
Shane -1st place
Paul---2nd
Dick---3rd
John-- 4th
