Proposed Schedule for Rimfire Benchrest match Day

We have been having a lot of fun at the Rimfire matches . The closest I have to a complaint is that it is a LONG day for some of us that drive down from Guilford and Rockingham county. We get up and leave home before 6, and are usually after 3 getting home (of course , part of that is because we stop at the Mcdonalds in Randleman for breakfast (and trash talk) and eat lunch ( and talk trash) after the match). And I have ideas ( OK my friends have ideas - I'm just taking credit from Keith ) for other new events to try ! So I would like to propose the following for a schedule for the match:

(around ) 8:00
Doors open
Thru 8:20
set up targets and equipment
(around ) 8:20 - 8:40
Practice time : get-check -confirm sight settings
8:40-8:55
register for Match , pay entry fees
8:55
MANDATORY SAFETY BRIEFING FOR ALL SHOOTERS
9:00
1st relay begins match ( add 5 minutes time for sighters? )
9:00 -12:00
"official " match for 2 relays
12-12:30
Side Matches (see below ) while scorers finish (PLEASE LEAVE SCORERS ALONE DURING THIS TIME )
(around) 12:45
Winners announced -trophies awarded (and also ran's congratulate themselves for "at least I beat Frank " )
1:00
Match is over
New member range orientation if needed

HEAD FOR LUNCH ( and trash talking!)

For those of you unfamiliar to our club , We have several side matches we may or may not run on any given day ( depending on time and interest). Past ones are the "smallest group" and "Washout ". Smallest group is just what it sounds like , and was easy when everyone was shooting 5 shot groups on the 5 bull targets . If you cared to , you put $1 in the pot . After the targets were scored , everyone chose their smallest group of the day , and the smallest of those got the pot ( and BRAGGING RIGHTS- MUCH more valuable !). the problem is when we started shooting the 25 bull targets, this had to be run separately ,adding time after the match . It also meant it was 1 group for the match( " the pressure is ON") . "Washout " is when all entrants put $5 in the pot , and tried to shoot through a washer at 50 yards- miss and you were out . Last one in takes the pot ( and BRAGGING rights ...).

I propose and am going to try a slightly different approach to our side matches. To start , everyone interested puts $3 in the pot before the match . We will designate 1 of the sighter targets to be for 5 shot smallest group. You can shoot 1 on each of the 4 relays (if you have time ), or 1-2-3 depending on ambition. We'll measure groups AFTER scorers are done . Winner gets $1 of the 3 put in .

The 2nd dollar will go to whoever posts the highest score out of 250 during one of the segments . Since we have several shooters that regularly shoot a "clean " (all 10s) one or more times , this will be a " who got the highest X count " match (but not higher x count with lower score ). And in case you are wondering 1 plan on the last dollar going to the club . LAST NOTE - IF you have a Junior , I will enter that person and pay their $3 - I will also put up a $5 prize for the highest score (out of 250 ) by a Junior during a match segment .

Time and interest permitting, I propose 1 more side match. Keith has been asking about trying 100 yards. So my proposal is this . All interested after the regular match help us move the target stands to 100 yards , and we hang the old style 5 bull targets up . we'll then shoot a 25 shot match at 100 yards . Everyone puts in $5 , Winner takes half the pot (club gets the other 1/2 ).

Well those are my ideas . Please TELL ME what you think . I will forward them to the Match director and President . Thanks for reading , and I hope to see you at the match !
