No matter what type of shooting you do, it all boils down to sight alignment and trigger control : line up your sights on the target , then (TRY TO ! ) squeeze your trigger without moving the sights off the target . We have a match perfect for practicing those fundamentals. At our match , there are no wind or light changes. It's easy to do - once. Try it 100 times . That's what you do at our match .

Our match is shot in 4 segments of 25 shots each on our own custom made targets . Our targets have more forgiving scoring rings than most other types of Rimfire Benchrest targets (for other pictures of targets , see links lower on page ).Our INDOOR range has 11 concrete shooting benches ; We shoot these targets at 50 yards . Time for each target is 15 minutes - it's enough time, but you cannot waste time . We have 2 relays ( Most days -we haven't had < 12 shooters since last summer!) .The 1st shooters to the line shoot 2 targets ( 50 shots) , then pull their equipment from the line and 2nd relay shoots 2 targets .Then 1st relay goes back to the line and shoots the 2nd half of the match .If the match moves well, 2nd relay finishes around 12-12:30 , And we often shoot a side match or 2 while the scorers finish .
We used to shoot this match on IBS 100 yard " Hunter Benchrest " targets (until so many got experienced enough to make an accurate X count impossible!). IF you are just starting out I highly recommend you shoot these targets . The
scoring rings are the same size as these targets ( that's how we designed them ). Shooting 5 shot groups will show you how good your rifle /ammo combination is . You will see how you can get similar size groups moving around to different spots on the target - It's you -not the gun! If you change the aiming spot each time you will not progress through the learning curve as fast ( My OPINION -you try it and tell me yours ) !

We have eleven concrete tables to shoot off of . You are welcome to bring whatever rest or sandbags you are used to (at this time - we are trying to write or adopt more formal rules) . We have several " regulars" that shoot this match with stock Savage 22s (most equipped with factory accu-trigger ). Several others shoot Ruger 10-22s . One of the nice things about this match is you don't need a high dollar gun to succeed- you need to shoot every shot well.
We shoot this match the 1st Saturday of every month .The match starts at 9 AM For more details of match day , read this . The entry fee is $15 . Trophies are awarded to the winner , and also to the high junior if we have 3 or more that day. WARNING! We have juniors that don't want to be " high junior". They want to be " MATCH WINNER !"
