It was a good day at the range to have a match, a little cool at the start, but it warmed up nicely. We had twelve competitors, including one new shooter, Holden Brooks. He said he hadn’t participated in any matches prior to our March pistol and shotgun match. We have implemented a classifier match for competitors new to the RGC action match. In this classifier match, the competitor will be awarded a match rank of 5, regardless of match performance. We will then use the competitor’s performance (individual stage time/score, and total time) to determine which level the competitor will be placed in for the remainder of the year. I created a spreadsheet (attached) to compare Holdens time/score with each individual shooter's time/score as well as the average time on each stage for each level. Overall, it looks like his performance from this match was more similar with level two competitors than with level one or three, so he will be competing in level two for the remainder of the year. In level one there was a tie for first and third. Both with a rank of 13, Dennis beat Bob for a third-place finish with his total match time being 14.45 seconds faster. Both with a rank of 7, Emily beat Bill for a first-place finish, with her total match time being 37.96 seconds faster.
LEVEL 1: 1st Emily 7(203.78), 2nd Bill 7(241.74), 3rd Dennis 13(293.67), Bob 13(308.12) In level two there was a tie for third. Both with a rank of 14, Jerry beat Dick for a third-place finish with his total match time being 13.24 seconds faster.
LEVEL 2: 1st Alan 5(194.34), 2nd Bobby 7(240.28), 3rd Jerry 14(295.57), 4th Dick 14(308.81)
LEVEL 3: 1st Billy 4(103.20), 2nd Mitch 9(147.36), Scout 11(188.11)
Next month there will be a pistol and rifle match. Currently we are planning on having a pistol only stage, a rifle only stage, and two 2gun pistol/rifle stages.
The 2025 awards banquet will be on March 28 at Woodmen of the World in Denton. Doors open at 3pm, food at 4pm.
