Action Match Results (14-Oct-2017)

Beautiful outdoor range, great weather, eight Level 1 shooters and five Level 2’s made for a good day of shooting with friends.

Were only able to get in three stages today due to time constraints but I think everyone got in about as much shooting as they could handle with the round count running pretty high. Most disappointingly of all was that we didn’t get to break in our new array of popper targets but they will surely get a good work-out in November’s match.

John Kiwacka had a two gun first stage with lots of movement, steel plates and difficult-to-engage IDPA targets. Billy Haynes’ stage two was a large square for the shooter to navigate around in, engaging targets first with the rifle & then with handgun. Both were really “busy” stages giving the shooters plenty to keep up with. Stage three seemed simple and quick enough on paper but turned problematic in actual execution; something to guard against in the future.

Next month, Saturday Nov. 11, will be a pistol/only affair. Details later but be working on rapid fire, target transition, drawing from the holster & lots of mag changes.
Show up with three mags & you need a double mag holder so you’ll find those mags quicker. Kydex mag pouches are available in a wide price range and you don’t need to spend a lot.
