Action Pistol Match Results (9-JUN-2018)

Great shoot today with 14 contestants, seven in each group; a nice neat range and warm but tolerable temperatures.

Started off with squads of four shooters on the line facing B-27 targets at 40 yds, 25 yds. And 15 yds utilizing single and two-hand shooting skills.

Next, John Kiwacka provided us a 30 round steel/paper target array challenging the shooter with small and large targets at various distances as well as having to shoot them in the correct order. Having to slow down and think while shooting can sure wear a fellow out!

Third stage was the good old “Mover” and folks turned in some pretty decent scores today…learning to keep those guns moving while pulling the trigger.

Lastly, we turned to Jerry Lock and his “Dueling Tree” for a double elimination stage that wore out the shooters but made the ammo suppliers ecstatic. We took today’s top two Level 1 duelers, Bob Beaver(1) & Dennis Jennings(2) and faced them off against today’s top two Level 2 duelers, Boyce Lomax(1) & Jeff Lewis(2) for a “Bragging Rights” finale. When the smoke cleared, BOYCE LOMAX emerged as our undisputed DUELING TREE CHAMPION AND IS HEREWITH ENTITLED TO ANY AND ALL BRAGGING RIGHTS DUE THIS ESTEEMED HONOR.

Our overall winners today:
LEVEL 1: Dennis Jennings(7), Danny Coggin(10), Jerry Lock(13-90.85), Bob Beaver(13-167.06)

LEVEL 2: Boyce Lomax(8), Jeff Lewis(9), Brian Davis(11), Dick Williams(13)

Thank you John and Jerry for your hard work on today’s match and thanks to you contestants for your safe and sportsmanlike conduct, keeping our matches a fun time for all.

Next month, July 14th, will be a challenging three-gun day at RGC. Probably some single gun and definitely two and three gun stages. Details later.

Shoot safe,
Dick
