Action Shoot Match Results (9-SEP-2017)

One way you know it’s a good match day is when you shoot poorly, as I did, but still have a fun time doing it! Such was the case this Saturday, thanks in large part to the efforts of stage contributors Jerry Lock and John Kiwacka and so many others who pitched in today to keep things running smoothly. As always, we owe Bob Beaver and Mickey Harwell a vote of thanks for their efforts to provide us with such a pristine range on match day.

Our shooters got off to a good start when John decided to split his massive first stage into two stages instead, giving us a little time to catch our breath and composure on the vast and varied array of steel plates.

Next, Jerry had his “Star” and falling plate rack set-up which seemed easy enough for some and very challenging for most of us.

We finished up with the “Mover” at 20 and 15 yards. As often happens, this contraption has a way of boosting the scores for some folks while throwing a damper on the hopes of others; always interesting none the less.

Some really good shooting and tight scores with several ties being decided by overall  elapsed time in both levels. Today’s winners in order of finish:

LEVEL 1–Gerald Lambert(10), Dennis Jennings(10), Jerry Lock(12), Danny Coggin(14)

LEVEL 2–Jeff Lewis(7), Billy Haynes(9), Brian Davis(14), John Kiwacka(14)

Next month, October 14th, will be a Rifle/Pistol competition. Expect a 75yd-100yd rifle stage with steel plates of some description. John Kiwacka is already crafting an interesting stage for you and Bruce Jacobson is constructing a bunch of new steel falling targets for the pistols. More details later, maybe, but get familiar with those guns in the meantime…practice, practice..safely…no finger on the trigger till the sights are on the target. See you soon.
