Getting Ready For Feb Action Match

Even for a lukewarm football fan like me, that was a heck of a Super Bowl…but now it’s time to get ready for our rifle/pistol match next Saturday, Feb. 11th @ 9:00. You need rifle, pistol, two or more mags & mag pouches for each gun, 100 rds ammo for each, eye/ear protection are mandatory.

Plan on medium to short rifle & pistol stages with clays, steel, paper silhouettes. Did I mention water cans? How about rifle shooting around barricades from left & right Shoulders? Bouncin’ bunny with the rifle?

New for this year will be a “handicap” regulation to be used should we have fewer than three contestants in either the Level 1 or Level 2 groups. Weather and many other factors can affect shooter participation this time of the year and this will allow us to give all shooters a chance to compete regardless of the turnout. More on that later.

Hope you enjoyed the RGC year-end banquet & awards ceremony! It was a most enjoyable evening & I trust everyone went home well-fed. Many had a new trophy or two & even a little extra cash to top off the event.
Our Action Shooter overall 2016 winners were:

Level 1: 1st-Michael Teague; 2nd-Jerry Lock; 3rd-Gerald Lambert; 4th-Dennis Jennings

Level 2: 1st-Billy Haynes, Jr.; 2nd-Jeff Lewis; 3rd-Dick Williams; 4th-Brian Davis

Michael Teague was our “Most Improved” Action Shooter and Jerry Lock received the first-ever Action Shooter Silver Bullet award for his “never give up” competitive spirit and unwavering devotion to family as well as RGC’s shooting sports.

Thanks to all of you for your support in 2016 and for your continued support in the coming year.

See you next Saturday,
Dick
