Upcoming Action Match Info (12-MAY-2018)

Jerry, John and I have a pretty interesting day at the range planned for you this Saturday. We’ll have a pistol/only and a shotgun/only stage as well as two combo stages all on the main range. If you haven’t practiced any one-hand shooting lately, now would be a good time to start. Also, at least one of our shooters complained about long range shotgun targets so we plan to help you out with that too.
Bring 50 #7 1/2 or #8 shot shells…standard velocity will do. No need to spend the money or beat yourself up with the high-powered stuff at any of our matches. For pistol, 100-125 rounds should be more than enough. Always bring more ammo than you need since sometimes things go awry and reshoots, some faulty reloads etc. are always a possibility. Ammo doesn’t take up a lot of room anyway. You will need three pistol magazines or speed loaders, magazine pouch, holster, shotgun shell carrier and EYE/EAR PROTECTION is a must.
Remember always that RGC matches are conducted under a strict “Cold Range” policy. Handguns are to be carried in a holster with an empty chamber and no magazine, empty or loaded, is allowed in the handgun until such time as the shooter is on the firing line and is told to “Load and Make Ready” by the Range Safety Officer. Long guns will also be totally unloaded and no magazine inserted, with the bolt locked back in some fashion, until arriving at the firing line and the shooter is instructed to “Load and Make Ready” by the RSO. You are required to receive the safety orientation before each match at which time you should ask for clarification of any safety issues which may be unclear to you. Do not hesitate to speak up if you see something that appears to you to be an unsafe situation of any kind.
Thank you for your attention in this matter and looking forward to another great day of shooting competition at our RGC range. Might want to throw in some sun screen while you’re at it.
